Palin was against robocalls, until she started making them

Remember when Sarah Palin used to give actual interviews to the media other than Fox? I know it's been a while, but try to think back -- all the way back to October 2008, when Palin told reporters the McCain campaign's automated robocalls "irritate" voters, and that she wouldn't use them if she called the shots.
Palin said that if she had her way, the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee would not be flooding battleground states with automated phone calls tying Barack Obama to former radical William Ayers, as they have done over the last week.
Calling robocalls "kind of draining out there in terms of Americans' attention span," Palin went on to say voters "get a bit irritated with just being inundated" by the pre-recorded campaign calls. No kidding.

That, of course, was before Palin realized she could make much more money as a conservative media darling and aspiring kingmaker than a lowly governor isolated from the lower 48. When she's not swinging at softballs from her buddies Beck and Hannity, Palin tours the country in support of her chosen right-wing anti-establishment candidates. She also, apparently, makes robocalls for them.

On Thursday, South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley announced that Palin "will be making automated phone calls" supporting Haley. Picking up the phone to hear Palin's folksy lilt launch into a diatribe about socialism and the "lamestream media" seems like it could give some people quite a scare, but here's the script of the call:
Hi there. This is Governor Sarah Palin. I’m calling on behalf of my good friend, and a brave and strong conservative woman, Nikki Haley. On Tuesday, you can do something great for South Carolina and for America by voting for Nikki Haley for Governor in the Republican primary. Nikki is a strong, pro-life, pro-business, conservative reformer. And she isn’t afraid to take on the entrenched powers. When you do that, they come after you with all kinds of made-up nonsense to try to knock you down. Believe me, I’ve been there. But you can make you own statement against these unfair attacks, and you can help take back state government, by voting for the real deal conservative, Nikki Haley on Tuesday. This is Sarah Palin urging you to join me in supporting Nikki Haley for Governor. Thank you so much.
If only winks could travel by phone. Actually, it turns out Palin changed her mind on robocalls before she started endorsing political candidates -- like, way before. The day after Palin told reporters in 2008 that she wouldn't use the 'irritating' robocalls, Talking Points Memo posted a McCain-Palin robocall starring none other than Sarah Palin. That means it would have had to be produced before Palin denounced robocalls, which means Sarah Palin is either really dishonest or really dumb. Which makes you wonder what her endorsements are really worth.

  1. Isn't it illegal for her to call herself governor?

  2. I would definitely like to think it is illegal for her to call herself Governor. Problem is I don't think her pansy of a successor (Parnell) cares that she is still representing herself as governor so no one will do a think about it. And the answer to your speculation is: she is really dumb. She does not even know what her positions on anything are from day to day.
